Als dreizehntgrößte Volkswirtschaft der Welt verfügt Brasilien über einen großen Binnenmarkt, eine diversifizierte Wirtschaft, wichtige Rohstoffe und eine geografisch günstige Lage in Bezug auf Europa.
Unter diesen Bedingungen kann die Produktion von grünem Wasserstoff in Brasilien im weltweiten Vergleich besonders günstig sein. So würden die Produktionskosten Brasilien Prognosen zufolge nur etwa 65 Prozent der Kosten in Deutschland betragen. Damit hat Brasilien das Potenzial, ein wichtiger Lieferant von grünem Wasserstoff für Europa zu werden.

The industrial port of Pecém is becoming Brazil’s first green hydrogen hub. With the signing of several international agreements, the pole offers great opportunities for the export of green hydrogen derivatives, such as ammonia and methanol, as well as for potential customers in its industrial complex. The port is also home to an EDP Group thermoelectric plant, the first commercially viable green hydrogen production plant in Brazil. The EDP Hydrogen Plant, known as UTE EDP PECÉM, is a prominent facility located in the Pecém region of Ceará, Brazil. This cutting-edge plant is a key player in Brazil's energy transition, focusing on the production of hydrogen as a clean and sustainable energy source. With a commitment to green technologies and environmental responsibility, UTE EDP PECÉM contributes significantly to the development of renewable energy solutions. By harnessing the potential of hydrogen, this facility not only supports regional economic growth but also represents a pivotal step in Brazil's journey toward a more sustainable and eco-friendly energy future.

The undertaking offers opportunities in several sectors, attracting investments and generating income for workers who are proud to build a new history for Pernambuco. Just 40 kilometers from Recife, Suape is connected to more than 250 ports on all continents and is the most strategic public port in the Northeast, considering that 90% of the Region’s GDP (Gross Domestic Product) is found in a radius of 800 kilometers from the port. In this way, it shows itself as a natural hub port, that is, a port that concentrates and distributes cargo not only to the Northeast, but also to the North of the country. The pole offers great opportunities for the export of green hydrogen derivatives.
